At Wrench Craft Cycle Works, we are driven by a lifelong passion for bicycles and a commitment to enhancing the cycling experience for everyone—from beginners to professional racers.
Our founder, a UCI Level 3-certified mechanic with over 35 years in the bicycle industry, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our services. Having worked with professional cycling teams in both Europe and North America, as well as providing neutral support at events, our founder understands the intricacies of the sport and the joy it brings. This new venture embodies all of our cycling passions, allowing us to support the community we love.
We believe that every cyclist deserves a pleasurable riding experience. Our mission is to empower individuals by providing exceptional bicycle mechanic services, education, and the right tools to enjoy the sport to its fullest. Our founder's extensive industry experience has cultivated valuable insights and connections that we leverage to support our clients and fellow mechanics.
We take pride in our mechanical expertise and aim to elevate the standards of bicycle servicing. In addition to our core services, we’re dedicated to fostering a community of mechanics by offering top-quality industry tools and educational resources.
Creativity is also a significant part of our ethos. We love transforming used bike parts—often destined for the landfill—into unique art and jewellery pieces, showcasing the beauty of cycling culture in a new light.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Together, we can elevate your cycling experience and celebrate the joy of riding!
“Working with Ray and Wrench Craft Cycle Works is always a pleasure. His skill and expertise as a professional mechanic are some of the best I’ve worked with. Not only is his attention to detail and execution top level, but his experience in the field of bike racing is invaluable. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a mechanic of the highest level.”
(Alex Cataford, Ex World Tour Professional, Co-organizer of Gatineau Grand Prix UCI race)
"I've worked with Ray on several occasions and have been struck by his ability to both deliver technical services and to explain how those services are carried out. This kind of deeper understanding, invaluable to anyone delivering or teaching the craft of cycle mechanics, can only come from many years of varied experience, which Ray certainly has. Approachable yet focused, I've enjoyed working with Ray … and look forward to repeating the experience, often!"
(Graham Freestone, co-owner of Velotech Cycling and legendary English industry mechanic)
“Ray is so much more than a fantastic mechanic. He has consistently used his skillset to mentor young riders before and after races and is always there when a sense of calm and pragmatic action is needed. He is like a human swiss army knife for DSs.”
(Richard Pasco, owner of Saint Piran Pro Cycling Team)
"I have had the pleasure of joining Ray on several big cycling adventures that tested one’s grit and character. From a bike-packing traverse in south-western Greenland to a point-to-point mountain bike ride from the French Alps to the Mediterranean and another epic ride from Zermatt Switzerland to Chamonix France via the Haute Route and circumnavigation of Mont Blanc. There was no one better to tackle a challenging trip than with Ray. His character is like no other, he is one of the most caring, enthusiastic and selfless people I have ever met. He will help anyone in any situation. He is a meticulous planner, a consummate professional, has endless endurance and is a great asset in a team environment.”
(Chris Winter, owner-Big Mountain Bike Adventures)
“Ray (Wrench) from Wrench Craft Cycle Works is by far the best technical bicycle mechanic that has ever worked on any and all of my bikes. As a lifelong cyclist and former professional road and track cyclist I can attest to having come across many good to great mechanics in my time – not to mention crappy ones # My first encounter with Ray at Wrench Craft Cycle Works was to build Specialized S-Works Race bike. He did not just take the frame and parts and put it together. He interviewed me, discussed my riding style and what my ideal riding position was and the ‘type’ of rider I was. It was like getting a bike fit and a professional build all in one! Ray’s attention to detail and knowledge certainly came through in our interactions. He is the most knowledgeable bicycle mechanic I have ever encountered. Since that initial meeting many years ago Ray has built numerous bikes for myself, my wife and countless members of our local club. Everything from a tune up, to a wheel build regardless if it is a commuter, race bike, gravel rig or MTB. If you are in search of an excellent experience do not hesitate to consider Wrench Craft Cycle Works for your next cycling mechanical need.”
(Denis Marchand-lifetime cyclist, ex pro racer, president of Bike and Beer)
